Thai Poosam on 28th January 2021
Lord Subramanya is one of the Hindu god, worshipped by most of the
Hindu people in south India, Srilanka, Malaysia and Singapore. Lord
Subramanya represents wisdom, strength, detachment, fame, wealth
and divinity, which are signified by his six heads.
Thai poosam is a Hindu religious festival dedicated to Lord
Murugan that is celebrated by Tamil people.Thai Poosam falls on
the full moon day in the Tamil month Thai (January - February).
Poosam refers to a star at its highest point during the festival.
Kavady translates as Kavu & Adi and is a pole slung across
the shoulder to evenly distribute the weight of whatever is being
carried, usually in bundles on either ends of the pole. The carrying
of kavady symbolizes the carrying of one’s burden and then
resting it at the feet of the Lord.
