E. Spinel group.
It consist of magnesium aluminate.Crystals are transparant to opaque.The
gemstones may be brillian cut or step cut.The colour is due to iron, chromium
or magnesium.

Gemstone Name : Turquoise .
Description :
The chemical term is copper bearing hydrous aluminium phospate.
But sweat or even soap water may bleach the colour.so remove the
ring before going to bed.It is cut in cabochon fashion.
Colour : Colour is due to the presence of iron and copper.
Hardness : 5.6 ; Specific gravity
: 2.6 to 2.8.It's density is 2.65 to 2.75.
Found in : Persia, Afghanistan,Australia,USA.

Description :
The chemical term is borosilicate of aluminium.Sensitive to heat.The
crystal is Trigonal.lusture vitreous to transparent.
Colour : The different colours are blue, yellow and brown.The
colour is due to Nickel,cobalt and Titanium.
Hardness : 7 to 7.5 ; Specific gravity
: 3 to 3.2
Found in : USA,Brazil, Madagascar,Sri lanka and
West africa.

Description :
Garnets are similar to Tourmaline.These are formed from Metamorphic
rocks.Ranges from transparent to opaque.They may be facet cut or
cabochon cut.
Colour : Garnets are known in all colours except in blue.The
colour is due to iron, Magnesium, chromium and titanium.
Hardness : 6.5 to 7.5 ; Specific gravity
: 4 to 6

Description :
Lapis luzili means blue stone.(Lazuli is derived from Arabic word
meaning blue similar to french word "Azur".Earliest gemstone
to be used in jewellery.It is more frequently used as a decorative
mineral.The tiny gold colour specks are due to iron pyrites.Lusture
is vitreous to greasy.It is always cut as cabochon fashion.

The blue colour is due to the presence of sulphur and Lazurite.

: 2.4 to 2.9
