Sri Rama is the 7th avatar of the Lord Vishnu in Dhasa avatar.Lord Vishnu incarnated himself as Sri
Rama for the destruction of Ravana.Sri Ramnavami occurs in the month of Chaitra.Sri Ramnavami is
celebrated on the ninth day (navami thithi) of the bright fortnight of the month of Chaitra
(March-April).
The festival is due to the birth of Rama who is remembered for his righteous reign. Sri Ramnavami
occurs at the beginning of summer when the sun is in Pisces. The Sun is considered to be the Lord of
Rama's dynasty which is called the Sun dynasty. Sun is also called as Raghukula or Raghuvamsa, as
Raghu means Sun.One who worships Rama with love becomes large-hearted, pure in spirit
good-natured and dispassionate in thought word and deed.
The noblest lesson personified in the Ramayana is the importance of righteousness in the
life of every human being.Being a Lord He lived the life of a comman man and has exemplified the path
of righteousness. Human beings should follow his ideals and principles to excell in life.If mankind follows
his footsteps then there can be ceaseless peace and prosperity in this world.
Ramrajya as become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. Even Mahatma
