Significance:

 Deepavali the festival of lights is celebrated on the Naraka Chathurthasi day just on the dawn of amavasya during the Hindu month of Aippasi Month in Tamil Language,(Aasvayuja Months in Hindi langauge)(October/November) every year. This year deepavali falls on Tuesday, the 13th of November 2012.

"Deepavali" - Deepa meaning light and Avali, meaning a row. It means a row of lights and indeed illumination forms Deepavali's main attraction.
