Effects of Jupiter retrograde:

Jupiter or Brahaspathi is a benefic planet which represents finance,philosophy,authority,law and judgement.The influence of Jupiter makes the native more noble,influential and wise.

Jupitarian are good at decision making and are capable of seeing the outcome of a result.They will be interested in long term relationship than short term. Jupiter turned retrograde on July 24th, 2010 and will return to its normal position on November 18th, 2010.

So what happens when a planet turns retrograde:

From an earth point of view, the planet appears to move backwards for a given length of time.But all planets move in more or less circular orbits at more or less constant speeds and planets closer to the Sun move faster. Thus, Earth overtakes and pass each of the outer planets, making them appear to move "backward" (retrograde) for a given length of time.

So when Jupiter turns retrograde:

The native should postpone travelling long distance,learning new things and spiritual journey.

The native may bring dishonesty or impartial judgment towards others. Unothodox approach and lack of faith may bring troubles in the family.Any legal judment may not be favourable.

The native may not enjoy respect among his relatives,colleagues and friends. He/she will be self centric.Those who are in the power may not find time to think for the goodness of society rather would spend time for self related activities.
